We are looking for a meticulous and experienced Senior Financial Accountant to take the lead in managing the general ledger, VAT and tax compliance, and employee benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

General Ledger and Financial Reporting

• General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local GAAP and Dutch GAAP.

• Month- and Year-End Closings: Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statements.

• Statutory Reporting: Prepare and file statutory financial statements for all entities, ensuring compliance with local regulations and liaising with external auditors.

• Intercompany Transactions: Oversee intercompany transactions and reconciliations, ensuring balances are aligned at all times.

VAT and Tax Compliance

• VAT Accounting: Prepare and file VAT returns for all entities, ensuring compliance with local VAT regulations and timely submissions.

• Other Tax Filings: Prepare and file corporate income tax returns and other tax filings (e.g., property tax, energy tax, etc.) in accordance with local laws.

Payroll and Employee Benefits Accounting

• Payroll Accounting: Ensure accurate recording of salaries, bonuses, and other compensation-related expenses.

• Employee Benefits: Manage accounting for employee benefits, including pensions, health insurance, and other fringe benefits, ensuring compliance with local regulations.

• Accruals: Record accruals for employee-related expenses, including bonuses and vacation entitlements.

Functional Leadership and Stakeholder Collaboration

• Functional Leadership: Provide functional leadership to local finance staff in each country, ensuring adherence to standardized processes and best practices in general ledger accounting, VAT & tax compliance, and employee benefits accounting.

• Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations.

• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with local finance teams, auditors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless financial operations.

You bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional accounting qualification (e.g., SPD, AA, or equivalent) is preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience, with at least 5 years in a senior role overseeing multiple entities. Experience in a senior role at mid-sized to large accounting firms (compilation practice) is a plus.

  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Netsuite, Oracle), advanced Excel skills, and familiarity with consolidation tools.

  • Fluency in English and Dutch is essential; proficiency in French or German is a plus.

  • Strong understanding of local GAAP and Dutch GAAP, with experience in statutory reporting and tax compliance in the EMEA region.

  • Detail-oriented and disciplined, ensuring high-quality output at all times.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage stakeholders at all levels.

  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

  • Experience in leading and mentoring a team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work culture.
