Director Commercial Strategy, Product and Marketing (CPM)
The Director CPM leads the intersection of commercial business strategy, product innovation and marketing execution. The role is responsible for shaping Sunrock's commercial strategic direction, leading the product and marketing development and designing go-to-market initiatives to drive business growth across the Netherlands, France and Germany. This role ensures that innovative clean energy solutions are successfully brought to market, aligning with both current client needs and new customer segments, and in full cooperation with the managing directors of the countries to set them up for success. The MDs are responsible for delivering the commercial and operational performance in their countries with their teams.
Given the different market conditions in each country, the Director must adapt strategies accordingly. The energy transition is most advanced in the Netherlands, making it a key market for piloting and scaling new solutions. France and Germany present different regulatory landscapes, client demands, and levels of market readiness, requiring a tailored approach while still centralizing processes and ways of working across the organization.
This role is critical in leading Sunrock’s organizational transformation, focusing on expanding the client portfolio and optimizing product-market fit, rather than geographical expansion.
Key responsibilities
Strategy Development & Execution
Develop and implement strategic initiatives to drive business growth, market expansion, and competitive advantage.
Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and trend forecasting to identify opportunities and risks.
Collaborate with senior leadership to align business objectives with strategic priorities.
Define key performance metrics for the CPM department and cascading to the CCS teams and track progress against company goals.
2. Business- & product strategy
Identify new product opportunities and enhance existing offerings to maintain market leadership.
Develop and execute a regional product marketing strategy, ensuring that energy solutions align with local market needs in the Netherlands, France, and Germany.
Driving the identification of market trends, regulatory changes, and customer demands in the local country teams to determine product opportunities.
Create business models and commercial strategies to ensure scalability and profitability of new offerings.
Oversee the positioning, messaging, and differentiation of products in each market, ensuring a unified yet adaptable approach
Monitor product performance and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement.
Work closely with senior leadership to align business development efforts with overall company objectives.
3. Product commercialization & market entry
Generally, the role is responsible for the development and marketing of the product (incl customer journey and goto market strategy), and leads and challenges the local product leads to develop and implement the products in close cooperation with the country MDs. The MDs have responsibility for delivering on commercial and operational targets.
Oversee the go-to-market strategy for new energy solutions in each region, ensuring smooth market entry and expansion.
Work cross-functionally with all relevant teams within Sunrock (commercial teams, operations, finance, E&A, Legal, IT, etc) to ensure successful product launches. Develop and refine business cases, and market validation strategies tailored to each country, aligned with Sunrock’s long-term business strategy.
Driving the product leads and local teams to working closely with existing and potential customers to be able to refine value propositions, improve the (financial/commercial/operational) performance and drive adoption.
Coordinating the development, structuring and contracting of sustainable relationships with external partners/vendors that are required to deliver on the product/service offering to customers.
4. Cross-market alignment & scaling
Ensure standardized processes and ways of working across all three countries while adapting to local market conditions to obtain better customer satisfaction, service delivery and financial performance.
Align product marketing initiatives with technical development, project financing, and operational execution across markets.
Work with internal and external stakeholders to align energy solutions with industry trends and regulatory landscapes.
Act as a key representative for Sunrock in discussions with partners, investors, and industry bodies across multiple regions.
5. Market & business growth
Expand Sunrock’s client portfolio by identifying and engaging with new customer groups beyond the existing base in each country.
Develop strategic partnerships to enhance Sunrock’s position in the energy transition.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and market response in different regions to continuously improve product-market fit.
Drive organizational transformation, ensuring Sunrock remains at the forefront of energy innovation and commercialization.
Leads the commercial international meetings & cross country (international) accounts/clients collaboration
6. Marketing & Brand Positioning
Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for new products and initiatives.
Oversee branding, messaging, and content strategies to ensure alignment with business objectives.
Collaborate with sales teams to create effective marketing campaigns and demand-generation efforts.
Utilize digital marketing, partnerships, and customer engagement strategies to enhance brand presence.
7. Leadership & team management
Lead and develop the product marketing and product development teams across multiple regions, ensuring alignment on goals and priorities.
Foster collaboration between product management, marketing and (local) commercial teams (business development, project development, energy sales) to drive innovation, market readiness and new revenue streams.
Establish best practices in product development, go-to-market execution, and performance tracking.
Drive a culture of customer centricity, data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.

Job requirements
Qualifications & Skills
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
Experience: 15+ years in strategy, product management, and/or marketing roles.
Analytical & problem-solving: Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
Leadership & team management: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Product & market expertise: Experience in digital marketing, product lifecycle management, and market research.
Communication & stakeholder management: Excellent ability to engage, influence, and align stakeholders across multiple regions and departments.
