The Role:

As a Software Engineer specializing in Energy Trading, you’ll play a crucial role in developing and maintaining event-driven applications for energy trading. Your work will directly impact the effectiveness and reliability of energy trading systems. 

Your Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

1. Develop Event-Driven Applications:
• Design, develop, and maintain event-driven applications related to energy trading. Examples include applications for PV curtailment and Battery trading/control.
• Utilize the Faust stream processing library (Python based) and Flink (Java based) to build robust and scalable solutions.
2. Kafka Integration:
• Consuming and processing Telemetry data from an external provider.
• Configure and develop Kafka Connect sources and sinks.
• Ensure seamless data flow between different components of the energy trading system using Kafka.
3. REST API Development:
• Create RESTful APIs using FastAPI (Python based).
• Implement APIs for various purposes, including configuration management.
4. Application Observability:
• Responsible for development and maintenance of logs, metrics and traces for application monitoring and alerting.
• Collaborate with other teams to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

What You Bring To The Table:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Python, familiar with Java.
• Experience with event-driven architecture and streaming frameworks (Faust and Flink).
• Familiarity with Kafka, Kafka Connect, Strimz and Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design and development.
• Knowledge of application observability and the LGTM stack (Mimir, Loki, and Tempo)
